Description

The APS-Simons Travel & Professional Development Awards are designed to help to address a lack of travel support and professional development funding to faculty affected by opportunity inequities. This initiative recognizes the importance of collaboration and meeting participation for effective teaching, mentorship and scholarly success by offering grants of $8,400 to qualifying higher-education professionals.

If you do not already have a MyAPS.org account, you will need to make a free account to access the application portal. Please note that creating an account does not require you to pay for an APS membership. You can set up an APS.org account by clicking "Don't have an account?" on this page

To qualify you must meet one of the following criteria:

Faculty or instructional staff at a non-doctorate-granting physics department. Faculty or instructional staff in a physics department at a Minority Serving Institution (MSI). Full-time faculty or instructional staff in a physics department not currently in a tenure-track position (e.g., lecturer, lab manager, etc).

Applicants may not have any external funding that includes travel awards at the time of submission.

Applicants do not need to be APS members to apply. Successful applicants will receive a free one-year APS membership.

APS leaders are expected to meet standards of professional conduct and integrity as described in the APS Ethics Guidelines. If invited to receive an APS-Simons Travel & Professional Development Award, you will be required to complete a Professional Conduct Disclosure Form.
