The APS-Simons Travel & Professional Development Awards are designed to help to address a lack of travel support and professional development funding to faculty affected by opportunity inequities. This initiative recognizes the importance of collaboration and meeting participation for effective teaching, mentorship and scholarly success by offering grants of $9,000 to qualifying higher-education professionals.

To qualify you must meet one of the following criteria:
Awards are directed toward full-time U.S.-based or international physics faculty or instructional staff in non-doctorate-granting physics departments, physics faculty or instructional staff at Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs), and physics faculty or instructional staff who are not currently in tenure-track positions (e.g., lecturer, lab manager, instructional staff).
Applicants must not hold major funding that includes travel awards at the time of submission. APS membership is required to apply.
Previous award recipients may apply again, provided they meet all eligibility requirements.
For applicants who have previously received this award:
The majority of prior award funds must be spent at the time of they apply again.
A report on the prior award is required at the time of application. This may be either a final report (if the award period has concluded) or a progress report (if the award period is still ongoing).Instructions for submitting the appropriate report will be provided within the application.
APS leaders are expected to meet standards of professional conduct and integrity as described in the APS Ethics Guidelines. If invited to receive an APS-Simons Travel & Professional Development Award, you will be required to complete a Professional Conduct Disclosure Form.
